ECR's History

Brief history

ECR Cyprus started as an initiative set up by its founding members-companies, under the name R.E.I. (Retail Efficiency Initiative) on the 14^th of March 2012. In the first year of its operation, the positive results of the work carried out by the companies which cooperated in two pilot projects (EDI & Category Management) were made public.

This led to the need for the creation of an official body for greater participation by even more companies. On the 12^th of September 2013, this initiative evolved into an Association entitled R.E.A. (Retail Efficiency Association).

The most important turning point of the Association was its membership with the European network - ECR EUROPE - on the 30^th of April 2014 and as a consequence the Association also changed its name to ECR Cyprus. It should be noted that ECR EUROPE cooperates with the World Organization entitled Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), a fact that widens its scope of knowledge and activity on a worldwide basis.

It should also be noted that ECR EUROPE changed its name to ECR Community following the vote taken by its General Meeting on the 26^th of February 2016.
